The Foundation seeks to host fun, successful events for all involved. Our goal for the 2nd Annual Curry Cup was to equal or exceed the tremendous success of last year’s sold-out inaugural event. Anything less would be a disservice to our sponsors, players and, most of all, our beneficiaries. After a careful assessment it became clear that we would not meet our goal and, thus, our very disappointing decision.

All registrations and sponsorships will be refunded in full, and we apologize for any inconvenience and hope to see you at our next event!

While the kids are moonbouncing, hayriding and hunting for candy canes, we’ll warm you up with a cup of hot coffee from Starbuck’s and a bowl of Cheap Seats Tavern’s famously delicious shrimp & sausage chili!

All proceeds will go toward furthering The Curry Foundation’s mission to furnish emotional and financial support to individuals and families who have experienced a life-altering tragedy such as a serious or terminal illness or death of a parent or spouse.

We’re also collecting unwrapped toys for donation to local charities to make it a Merry Christmas for less-fortunate Lowcountry families.

On Saturday evening, October 23, 2010, we set sail aboard The Spirit of Harbour Town to enjoy a brilliant Hilton Head sunset – and a full moon rising that nearly stole the show – for our first Sunset Dinner Cruise and Charity Silent Auction.

We’re still waiting for the final bean count, but by all accounts the evening was a success.

Our guests enjoyed an opportunity to meet our Board of Directors, Volunteers, and, of course, our guest of honor, Sherry Kahle.

Sherry, an artist and teacher at Hilton Head Island Middle School, was recently diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Follicular Lymphoma and is currently undergoing treatment. With this dinner cruise, silent auction and other fundraising activities, The Curry Foundation is helping to ease Sherry’s financial burden while she’s busy beating her cancer.

We billed this event as “A Three Hour Tour…to Help Sherry,” but our goals are much broader than that. Next year we expect to have Sherry on board with us again…cancer free and healthy, and with her life back on track…to introduce our five, ten…perhaps more…newest beneficiaries.

We called it a Sunset Dinner Cruise, but as serendipity would have it, we got a double feature with this brilliant full moon rising over Hilton Head Island.
